Interference effects in second-harmonic generation within an optical cavity
An experiment is described that investigates certain interference effects for second-harmonic generation within a resonant cavity. By employing a noncollinear geometry, the phases of two fundamental beams from a frequencystabilized dye laser can be controlled unrestricted by the boundary conditions imposed in an optical cavity containing a KDP crystal and resonant at the second harmonic. The fu...

متن کاملEffect of Kondo resonance on optical third harmonic generation
We use the method of dynamical mean field thoery, to study the effect of Kondo resonance on optical third harmonic generation (THG) spectra of strongly correlated systems across the metal-insulator transition. We find that THG signals are proportional to the quasiparticle weight z of the Kondo peak, and are precursors of Mott-Hubbard gap formation. PACS 42.65.-k; 71.27.+a; 71.30.+h
متن کاملOptical-phonon resonances with saddle-point excitons in twisted-bilayer graphene.
Twisted-bilayer graphene (tBLG) exhibits van Hove singularities in the density of states that can be tuned by changing the twisting angle θ. A θ-defined tBLG has been produced and characterized with optical reflectivity and resonance Raman scattering. The θ-engineered optical response is shown to be consistent with persistent saddle-point excitons. Separate resonances with Stokes and anti-Stoke...
متن کاملLocalized and propagating surface plasmon resonances in aperture-based third harmonic generation.
We investigate the influence of localized and propagating surface plasmons on third harmonic generation from rectangular apertures in metal films. We designed optimal aperture array structures by using finite-difference time-domain simulations with nonlinear scattering theory. From this design space, we fabricated and measured the third harmonic in the region of maximal performance. We find the...
